This year will see Asics supply official sportswear and shoes for the IPC and independent Paralympic athletes teams at official events.

The agreement will be extended in 2019 to all officials of World Para Swimming, World Para Powerlifting, and World Shooting Para Sports, including the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.

Additionally, Asics will supply competition kits for around 300 Paralympic athletes from 2020 until the end of the year. This will include the Paralympic Games period with the aim of supporting developing National Paralympic Committees.

The IPC agreement builds on Asics’ ongoing effort to support para sports. The Japanese footwear brand is also the official supplier of World Para Athletics.

“This is an agreement that not only benefits the IPC and the summer World Para Sports, but the wider Paralympic Movement,” said IPC president Andrew Parsons. “We are particularly delighted at the commitment of Asics to support the Independent Paralympic Athletes team and a number of developing NPCs on the road to Tokyo 2020.”

Asics chairman and CEO Motoi Oyama added: “We are thrilled to be able to support the International Paralympic Committee as an Official Supplier. Paralympians’ courage and determination give dreams and hope to people around the world.”
