Cerruti 1881: Jason Basmajian appointed Chief Creative Officer

Cerruti 1881 has found a successor to designer Aldo Maria Camillo, who left the brand last May. The Italian fashion label, specialising in menswear and based in Paris, stated in a press release that Jason Basmajian will be its new Chief Creative Officer.

Chinese company Trinity (Li & Fung group), owner of Cerruti 1881, didn't have to search far. Jason Basmajian had been at the helm at historic British tailor Gieves & Hawkes, also owned by Trinity, for five seasons.

Now forty years old, Jason Basmajian is extensive experience in luxury menswear. After communications and art history studies, Basmajian began his career in 1990 in London with Giorgio Armani. In 1993 he joined Calvin Klein in New York, where he coordinated the creative team and supervised manufacturing quality, working alongside the licensing office.

In 1999 Basmajian became the ready-to-wear apparel director at Donna Karan. Four years later he moved to Paris to become ST Dupont's Creative Director, taking care of the launch of ready-to-wear apparel. In 2007 he went to Italy, in the role of Creative Director for Brioni, before joining the the Trinity group in 2012.
