DC Shoes presents high-tech accessories line

Published

Just like eyewear lines, the designing of smartphone and tablet cases is an area that is being explored by an increasing number of brands. The smartphone has become a must-have daily gadget for a significant number of people.

DC Shoes presented a collection created with Bigben alongside an exhibition with artist duo MMAV - DC Shoes

A 2012 survey in the UK indicated that 66% of smartphone users interviewed felt uncomfortable when having to do without one.

Since the younger generations are the most willing to embrace the opportunities afforded by this gadget, brands that target such consumers are probing the potential of accessories lines.

This is why DC Shoes, the skateboarding brand owned by the Quiksilver group, joined forces with Bigben, a specialist in connected accessories which has worked with brands such as Ora ïto, Jean Paul Gaultier and Kenzo, and developed smartphone and tablet cases featuring DC Shoes' historic logo. The line has also been created to mimic skateboarding design codes. The partners chose colours such as khaki and navy blue and also developed a smartphone protective casing that looks like a shoe sole, and a universal model in cotton fabric, based on the idea of a sock. Many skaters actually choose this method to protect their mobile phone.

The DC Shoes collection's basic items

There is also a canvas model, reproducing prints from the DC Shoes collection or using a bandanna print motif. These models are more fashion-oriented and feature a leather strap. The items are available at prices between €19.90 and €34.90 at a selection of specialist stores, such as Fnac and Boulanger in France, and also at phone provider stores.

This kind of distribution network is a source of greater visibility for the American brand.
