The finalists of the 2018 edition include De Barones, a 34,000-square-metre shopping center in Breda; Hilvertshof, a 28,500-square-metre shopping mall in Hilversum; Leiden’s 5,986-square-metre Catharinasteeg; the 23,847-square-metre Koningshoek in Maassluis; and Koedijkslanden, a 4,720-square-metre shopping center in Meppel.

Brigit Gerritse, director at NRW, said in a press release: “The NRW Jaarpijs has been the most prestigious award for the best retail development in the Netherlands for almost 30 years. Each year, an expert jury awards the NRW Jaarpijs to a project that has recently been newly built or redeveloped and that is seen as a future-proof and inspiring example for the sector.”

Previous recipients of the NRW Jaarprijs include Winkelcentrum Kerkelanden in Hilversum (2017), Gelderlandplein in Amsterdam (2016), and Markthal Rotterdam (2015).

The NRW brings together experts, stakeholders and innovators within the Dutch retail industry and stimulates knowledge development across the parties. The NRW consists of approximately 500 members, including the government, developers, investors, financiers, researchers, marketers and consultants.

The NRW Jaarprijs 2018 will be awarded on 20 September 2018 at Theater Amsterdam.
