Dutch fashion retailer Costes, part of The Sting House of Brands, will be opening a new store in Leeuwarden. This spring, the shop will be in the city centre close to big-name chains such as Zara, H&M, Hema, America Today and CoolCat.

The 2,018 square-metre store will be situated in a building that formerly housed the now bankrupt department store V&D, according to Dutch real estate website Vastgoedmarkt

The building consists of two sections; one part will be home to Costes and the other part is already a Zara store, which opened in the building in 2016.

After a few years of declining sales, due to the launch of its online store and international expansion, The Sting announced its focus on new concepts in 2016. These concepts are targeted at a younger generation and include independent stores for The Sting’s own brands.

In addition to Costes, The Sting also operates Cotton Club and Distrikt Norrebro, both launched in 2017. Some of the chains, such as Costes, are individual brands that operate via their own websites and physical stores. Other brands such as Cotton Club are available via the The Sting’s website and feature “The Sting” at the (physical) storefront.

Costes offers collections for men and women. The brand was founded in 2013 and opened its first store at Utrecht’s Oudegracht. Additional stores followed across the country and today the brand operates 30 standalone stores in the Netherlands.
