Hervé Léger has entrusted the creative direction of its womenswear collections to Christian Juul Nielsen, according to WWD. The designer is already working on his debut collection for the luxury label, which was acquired by Authentic Brands in late 2017.

After Nina Ricci, which announced on Wednesday, August 29, the appointment of design duo Rushemy Botter and Lisi Herrebrugh to head of its ready-to-wear line, it's Hervé Léger's turn to strengthen its creative team, as well as starting a new chapter for the brand. The fashion house has called on Christian Juul Nielsen to take charge of its women's line.

Following on from last year's bankruptcy announcement by BCBG Max Azria, which Hervé Léger was a part of since 1998, the latter was snapped up at the end of 2017 by American group Authentic Brands, which also owns Juicy Couture, Tretorn and Aeropostale.

A relative unknown, Christian Juul Nielsen will be wearing two hats from now on, given he is also the artistic director of casual and premium womenswear brand Land of Distraction. He will present his first collection for Hervé Léger in New York this September.

Having worked at Nina Ricci, Dior Couture, and Oscar de la Renta, the designer will be tasked with giving the Hervé Léger brand a new identity, which is already known for its body-con dresses made from elasticated panels, also called "bandage dresses."
