After Milan and the spectacular Vittorio Emanuele II luxury shopping arcade, Prada chooses a new special destination for its second Resort runway show. The show will take place on October 12 in Shanghai's Rong Zhai mansion. A sumptuous 1918 building with western gardens, which the luxury house has restored via a partnership with the city, which owns the location.

Prada renovated the building into a "flexible site for cultural activities", the company said in a news statement.

The residence, originally designed to welcome the family of Yung Tsoong-King, a famous Chinese entrepreneur, will be inaugurated following the Resort fashion show, with a press conference and an evening on October 14. It will then be open to the public for a month as of October 17.

It’s not the first time that designer Miuccia Prada and her husband Patrizio Bertelli have embarked on a major restoration project. They did it in Milan, among other locations, on certain portions of the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, where Prada installed its "Osservatorio", an 800 square meter space dedicated to photography and visual arts managed by the Prada Foundation.

Furthermore, the Italian house restored the Palazzo Corner della Regina, a Baroque palace in Venice, and converted it into an art space.

In Paris, in 2011, the brand also joined the Palais d'Iena as an exclusive partner for the promotion of architecture and heritage. Since then, the fashion house hosts fashion shows from its young Miu Miu line in the prestigious building, built in 1937 by Auguste Perret. The location also houses the headquarters of the Economic, Social and Environmental Council.
