Reebok is calling itself a women's first sportswear brand. In the announcement, Reebok said it "believes in the power and strength that resides within women around the world." With Grande, Reebok plans to help women "become the best versions of themselves."

Grande was selected because of her huge social media presence. Reebok pointed to the star's ability to deliver a positive message, particularly to women and young girls regarding loving their body imperfections.

Grande said "Reebok’s message of enabling and encouraging self-belief and self-betterment is something I fundamentally live by." She said she was attracted to Reebok because she relates to developing confidence and defining fitness on one's own terms.

Grande joins the ranks of other previously appointed Reebok brand ambassadors including model Gigi Hadid, R&B artist and dancer Teyana Taylor. Rapper Future adds to the brand's celebrity roster, as well as numerous CrossFit athletes.

Reebok has signed Grande for a year. The focus will be on social media, undoubtedly with goals of harnessing the power of Grande's 113 million Instagram followers.
