Italian eyewear company Safilo S.p.A. announced the appointment of Riccardo Cadorin as senior vice president of optical sales at its US subsidiary on Wednesday. The sales veteran has two decades of experience in the industry.

In his new role, Cadorin will oversee Safilo’s regional sales managers in the US and lead a cross-functional team with responsibility for managing the company’s buying groups and key alliances. He will also work to improve Safilo’s go-to-market approach and reinforce strong customer relations.

Cadorin will be based at the company’s US headquarters in Secaucus, NJ, and will report directly to Henri Blomqvist, CEO of Safilo North America.

A graduate from the University of Bologna, he brings twenty years of experience in the eyewear industry to his new position, having previously served in a series of leadership roles at Luxottica, Marcolin and Marchon, where he most recently held the position of VP of US sales.

“We are very pleased to welcome Riccardo into Safilo. His impressive understanding and breadth of
expertise of the eyewear industry and long-standing customer relationships is exactly what is needed to help further Safilo’s committment to being the ECP’s independent partner of choice for long-lasting mutual success in a rapidly changing market environment,” stated Blomqvist in a release.

Safilo sales suffered from the loss of the company’s Gucci and Céline licenses in Q4 2017, dropping 16.9% to 249 million euros.

The company’s CEO Luisa Delgado resigned in February of this year and will be replaced by current President and CEO of Unilever Italy Andrea Trocchia in April. Safilo President Eugenio Ranzelli has taken charge of the company in the interim.
