Unlimited Footwear Group acquires SuperTrash footwear license

Dutch fashion group Unlimited Footwear Group (UFG) announced today that part of its shareholders has acquired the intellectual property rights of Dutch fashion label Supertrash.

As a result of the acquisition, the fashion group is now licensed to develop, produce and distribute Supertrash footwear.

Bart van Helvoirt, CEO at Unlimited Footwear Group, said in a press release: “With the acquisition of this license a long-awaited dream becomes reality, [owning] a high fashion women’s brand. As is customary within our organization, we will launch a completely new a design and sales team for the label. With the power of the organization behind us, we will bring powerful, fashionable collections on the market, which fits the Supertrash DNA.” The group added that the acquisition of the license corresponds to UFG's strategy to further strengthen its position in the footwear market.

The Supertrash footwear collections will be sold via footwear retailers, department stores, dealers and online channels. UFG will first focus on the Benelux market. The first collection under the UFG license will be launched fall/winter 2019.

The news comes three months after Supertrash filed for bankruptcy. In April, Supertrash relaunched under the name ST.art BV, an initiative by a group of anonymous investors. The group of investors acquired the stocks and inventory of the label’s five own stores as well as the intellectual property rights. During its peak, Supertrash operated 1,600 points of sale internationally and 30 brand stores in the Netherlands, Belgium, the United Kingdom and Hong Kong 

Unlimited Footwear Group is a Dutch company, operating in the footwear market. The Waalwijk-based fashion group designs, sources and distributes shoes for men, women and children. The labels Bullboxer and Rehab Footwear are fully owned by the group. Other brands are licensed via its subsidiaries and include labels such as Björn Borg Footwear and Gaastra Footwear.

In 2016, Unlimited Footwear Group acquired two retail formulas, Invito and Le Ballon. The acquisition established UFG’s position in the retail market. The company is active in more than 50 markets around the globe.
