Walgreens has launched SkinID in partnership with Johnson & Johnson, an online skincare advisor offering personalized recommendations in a three-step regimen based on inputs customers share about their skin types.

Walgreens explained in a release that SkinID focuses on cleansing, treating and moisturizing product recommendations for acne care. According to the company, there are over two thousand acne skincare products on the market which can be overwhelming for consumers.

“'One size fits all' does not apply to skincare,” explained Sharon Holubek-Bank, senior director of customer development at Johnson & Johnson Consumer Inc., who shared their technology with Walgreens to launch the platform.

“When customers don’t see the results they are looking for because they purchased the wrong products, they end up frustrated," Holubek-Bank added.

The new platform could well be the first of a number of skincare personalization initiatives to be explored by Walgreens. Lauren Brindley, group vice president of beauty and personal care, Walgreens, said in a statement that, "SkinID is just the beginning of how Walgreens plans to address our customers’ skin health moving forward.”

To access the portal, customers can log in through Walgreens' website. They can also speak in person with a beauty consultant in store. Loyalty program members can save their data for future reference.
