Estée Lauder Companies Inc. announced on Monday the appointment of Angela Wei Dong to its board of directors and the company’s audit committee, effective July 11.

Dong is currently the global vice president and general manager, Greater China, of Nike Inc. Having joined the U.S. sportswear giant in 2005, the executive has since held positions of increasing responsibility; assuming her current role in 2015.

Before joining Nike, Dong worked in several management positions at Coca-Cola, British American Tobacco and Procter & Gamble.

Dong graduated from Tianjin University in China and received her MBA from Northwestern University and The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

"We welcome Angela Wei Dong to our board of directors,” said William  Lauder, executive chairman. “Angela’s impressive background and experience will provide our board with valuable insights. In addition to her background in finance, Angela brings strong experience in strategic branding and marketing of consumer goods, in particular for Chinese consumers. We are excited that Angela has joined our board.”

The news comes days after the New York-based company pulled its Chinese Tmall store for its Too Faced makeup brand, downsizing its retail network for the Californian cosmetic brand in China.

In June, Estée Lauder revealed two new brand heads for its Origins, and Bumble and Bumble beauty brands, respectively.
