As it passes the €1 billion mark in sales in 2021, Balenciaga needs space. Previously based at 40 rue de Sèvres, in the former Laennec hospital, at the same address as the headquarters of its parent company Kering, the Spanish-born brand has moved some of its teams to new premises in Paris this summer, FashionNetwork.com has learned.

New Balenciaga premises - DTACC

The brand, led by Cédric Charbit with Demna (Demna Gvasalia, in full) as creative director, has taken up residence in a 3,850 square meter building at 16-18 rue Vaneau in the 7th arrondissement of the capital.

The building is newly renovated after nearly two years of work, at a cost of 16.5 million euros.

Located near the Hôtel de Matignon, the residence of the French prime minister, the space is spread over five floors and has offices, meeting rooms and a cafeteria.

For several decades, the premises housed the prime minister's administrative and financial services.

The premises were redesigned by the DTACC architectural firm, which restructured a large part of the spaces by enlarging them, adding light wells and adapting the roof to make a green terrace with a view of the Invalides and the Eiffel Tower.

In addition, the work included an upgrade of the gardens and the interior courtyard. While some of the company's teams have already taken possession of the new offices, other employees are still working in the Laennec premises.
