A change is happening at Eric Bompard? According to sources, the family-owned label, well known for cashmere with 32 year's in business, could come under the control of Xavier Marie, the founder of Maisons du Monde.

The transaction would amount to $130 million euros, ten-times the EBITDA of Eric Bompard, an overvalued sum, according some observers. For Xavier Marie, after making major investments in the Rautureau shoe group - the brand dedicated to the world of Bonton kids - and, as of last September, Paule Ka and its ready-to-wear women’s line, Xavier Marie is in the process of founding a group of French fashion brands.

The opening of its capital would allow Eric Bompard, whose turnover amounts to approximately 90 million euros, to accelerate its international presence. In 2015, marking the brand's 30th anniversary, founder Eric Bompard explained to FashionNetwork.com that its expansion required too much financial and human resources for a family company and said: "Within a reasonable timeframe, four to five years, we hope that the percentage split will be 40% exports (compared to 17.5% in 2015, including online sales) and 60% for France".

Eric Bompard, which produces 500,000 cashmere pieces each year making it the European leader, boasts 54 namesake stores and shop in shops across department stores, found mostly in France.
