Crocs President and CEO Andrew Rees said in a statement, “Bill’s expertise and accomplishments in the areas of brand development and digital transformation complement the skillset of a board already very focused on advancing our strategic business goals."

Gray is one of the two director roles that Blackstone can appoint, pursuant to a 2014 investment agreement with Crocs.

Before joining Blackstone in 2010, Gray worked with global communications firm The Ogilvy Group, where he led strategy for Unilever and American Express, as well as other CPG brands. He was also CEO of Ogilvy Group North America from 2005 to 2009.

He currently serves on the boards of SeaWorld Entertainment and HealthMarkets, Inc, and is also a trustee on the board for the New York Public Library.

Gray holds his B.A. from Harvard and his MBA from the University of Virginia's Darden School of Business.

His appointment is effective immediately.
