Rumours emerged last week that pret-a-couture brand Delpozo was looking to hire German designer Lutz Huelle as its new creative director and the Spanish company has now confirmed his appointment. He will succeed Josep Font, who left the brand in September.

Lutz Huelle is the new creative director of Delpozo - Delpozo

“I have always loved Delpozo for its unique style and positioning, and I'm proud and excited to be part of this new chapter in the history of the house,” said the German designer, who graduated from the prestigious Central Saint Martins and later worked as head of knitwear at Martin Margiela. He has also had his own namesake brand since 2000, after launching it with partner David Ballu. Most recently, Huelle has worked as a fashion consultant for luxury brands including Max Mara and Brioni, and received two ANDAM fashion awards.

Lutz Huelle will be responsible for preserving Delpozo’s values as well as expanding the brand’s daywear category to offer a complete wardrobe. He will also oversee the Fall/Winter 2019 collection, which is to be presented during London Fashion Week by appointment. His first full collection will launch for Spring 2020.

“I am very excited by Lutz’s appointment as the new creative director of Delpozo and this new chapter for the house. He has a wealth of experience in the industry and a great energy. He will be key to the brand’s success and I am looking forward to seeing his first collection,” Pedro Trolez, chairman and owner of the brand, commented.

Founded in 1974 by Jesus del Pozo, the company was relaunched in 2012 after being acquired by Perfumes y Diseño. Currently, Delpozo has a presence in 34 markets through 80 points of sale, and operates three flagship stores in Madrid, London and Dubai.
