Ackermann will be the third guest designer to create a couture collection and will follow Olivier Rousteing.

Prior to that Glenn Martens and Chitose Abe of Sacai had created collections for Gaultier. The house decided to develop this novel guest designer format following the retirement of Gaultier in January 2020.

All three of these shows were staged inside Gaultier’s historic headquarters on rue Saint-Martin in the 3rd arrondissement.

One of the most acclaimed and naturally gifted designers of his generation, Ackermann’s show for Gaultier will be keenly anticipated.

Next month, Ackermann is to reveal a collab’ with sports brand Fila. A menswear, womenswear and accessories offer to be unveiled in one of the UK’s most fashion focused cities via a fashion show in Manchester on Thursday, November 17.

The fresh news at Gaultier was announced in a terse press release from the house on Friday morning:  “Couture is what remains when you have forgotten everything.” Haider Ackermann - Jean Paul Gaultier, a voice that speaks.”

Expect huge demand to witness this one-off collection meeting of two great designers. Marrying the archives of Jean Paul with the wit and construction of Ackermann.
