Malls that Hammerson part owns are continuing to attract premium names as tenants and particularly in the upscale beauty segment that remains buoyant at present.

The property company, along with joint owner Aberdeen Standard Investments, have this month secured Space NK for Brent Cross, with the retailer set to open a new boutique in ‘mall five’, which has been reconfigured and refreshed “to ensure Brent Cross continues to deliver a best-in-class brand-mix for customers.”

The 1,560 sq ft boutique is due to open later this year and will be important in bringing a number of global in-demand international brands to the mall, including Drunk Elephant, Hourglass and Laura Mercier. It should also boost an already-strong beauty offer there with the retailer being known for its in-store events such as skincare consultations, professional treatment,  seasonal make-up masterclasses and beauty expert meet-and-greets.

Hammerson’s asset management strategy at the centre has seen retailers on mall five such as Jaeger, LK Bennett and Monsoon “proactively replaced over the past three years with brands that continue to resonate strongly with consumers, including All Saints, Guess and Anthropologie.” The first half of 2019 also saw international clothing brand Khaadi and North Face take space on the mall five.

Meanwhile, Hammerson  and Irish Life, joint owners of Dublin’s Swords Pavilions Shopping Centre, have announced that luxury bath, body and home brand, Rituals Cosmetics will be opening its fourth standalone store in Ireland there. Located close to the newly opened Superdry and JD Sports stores, the 800 sq ft boutique will open on September 4.

The 19-year-old brand has carved out a strong niche in the home and body cosmetics area and has been proactive with Irish store openings. It has also had a boutique in Dundrum Town Centre since September 2018 and an outlet store in Kildare Village.
