Hermès Birkin and Kelly are most Instagrammed bags - report

The Hermès Birkin bag is the most Instagrammed designer bag with over 5.9 million posts, a new study has shown. And Hermès also scores strongly with its Kelly bag as that’s in second place with 5.45 million+ posts. Some way behind is the third-placed Dior Lady Dior bag at just over two million posts.

But while Hermès dominates the top two, Gucci, Celine and Louis Vuitton all tie for the most Instagrammed designer bag brand with three bags each in the top 20.

That’s all according to OnBuy’s Handbag Department.  

The top Gucci bag is, perhaps unsurprisingly, the Marmont in fourth place with just under a million posts. It’s followed by the Chanel Boy, Celine Trapeze, Gucci Dionysus, Dior saddle, Chanel Flap and Givenchy Antigona. Those all have more than half a million posts to round out the top 10.

The rest of the top 20 include the Prada Nylon, Celine Luggage, Loewe Puzzle, Louis Vuitton Speedy, Celine Belt, Gucci Soho, Louis Vuitton Never Full MM and Alma, Marc Jacobs Snapshot and Fendi Baguette.

The full list highlights how a mixture of classic and newer items are popular, but particularly how long-established pieces remain the supporting pillars of many brands’ handbag businesses.

It also highlights the dominance of Europe and particularly France, followed by Italy, with only one American brand included.
