Easy payments financier Klarna has launched a campaign with credit/debit card giant Visa to promote its own Klarna card during the UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 football tournament which runs across 6-31 July.

England women's footfall team squad member Fran Kirby

The campaign has begun appearing around hosting stadia, including Wembley in London, and Old Trafford in Manchester, and features four ‘Team Visa’ athletes “who are changing the game on and off the pitch”. They are England stars Lucy Bronze and Fran Kirby, Dutch forward Shanice van de Sanden and Swedish striker Kosovare Asllani.

Running for the duration of the competition, the campaign “shows another side of the athletes”, allowing the Team Visa members “to not only shine on the pitch, but the opportunity to shine off it, showcasing their own personal style and bringing them into Klarna’s world of high touch fashion”.

And the link? “Much like women in football, Klarna and Visa are challenging the traditional norms, and changing the game of online shopping. The Klarna card, powered by Visa, allows consumers to ‘pay like a pro’ giving them flexibility to pay now or up to 30 days later, online or in-store with no interest or late fees. The Klarna card is striving to change the game, and show that a card doesn’t always have to charge interest”, Klarna said.

David Sandström, Chief Marketing Officer at Klarna, added: “Since launching in January, the Klarna card has been a huge success with over 170,000 UK Consumers using the card. The Klarna card empowers consumers with greater control, transparency and choice over how they pay -- giving them the exibility to pay later for purchases everywhere, without the risks of interest and revolving credit."
