McArthurGlen appoints chief information officer

European designer outlet group McArthurGlen has appointed Phil Parry to the newly-created role of chief information officer.

He spent the past three years as group head of digital delivery at Whitebread Plc, the UK’s largest hospitality company, where he oversaw all digital initiatives across the company’s Premier Inn, Costa Coffee and restaurant brands.

Prior to that, he worked for the Home Retail Group, owner of Argos and Homebase, as group IS digital programme manager, and spent eight years at Mercedes-Benz UK as project delivery leader responsible for e-commerce strategy, including web and mobile app developments.

At McArthurGlen, he will lead the technology operations and investments activities across the group’s portfolio of 24 designer outlets in nine countries.

Chief customer officer Tom Enraght-Moony commented: “Phil brings 20 years’ diverse technology and transformation experience at B2B and B2C brands including Whitbread plc, Mercedes-Benz, Argos and Homebase.

"As McArthurGlen continues to invest in our technology infrastructure and team, he will be pivotal to our strategy of putting the customer at the heart of everything we do and maximising the performance of our brand partners by applying technology and data across the entire value chain.”

The group owns outlet shopping destinations in Ashford, Bridgend, Cheshire Oaks, Swindon, York and Nottingham. It is currently focused on expanding its presence as well as developing its customer experience and technology function.
