Mugler reinvents the ‘gourmand' fragrance with ‘Angel Muse'

Almost a quarter of a century after revolutionizing the perfume world with "Angel" -- the first ever "gourmand" fragrance, consisting mainly of synthetic edible notes -- Mugler has renewed the genre in a modern twist with "Angel Muse." This new take on the original gourmand scent is designed to be just as addictive as its predecessor, and is available from April 2016.

Launched in 1992, Thierry Mugler's "Angel" fragrance has won over millions of women all around the world, making regular appearances in best-selling perfume lists. Now, Mugler has reinvented its gourmand fragrance with "Angel Muse," a contemporary version tailored to suit a new generation -- the daughters of the women who discovered "Angel" in the 1990s.

A softer, less pronounced, but just as addictive scent, "Angel Muse" is the work of Quentin Bisch for Givaudan, who updated the original fragrance with a more modern version. The very essence of Mugler's "Angel" remains present, but the 2016 scent is based on a new pair of gourmand notes, twinning hazelnut cream with vetiver.

Mugler describes "Angel Muse" as "bright, delicious and elegant, with enchanting opulence... with volume."

This new edition's bottle breaks with the codes of the original fragrance, ditching the angular, star-shaped bottle of "Angel" for sleek feminine curves. The pebble-shaped bottle of "Angel Muse" sets pink-toned amber glass in a silver metal surround. This choice of color also contrasts with the iconic blue packaging of the original scent.

Georgia May Jagger has been picked as the face of this new take on "Angel," starring in a campaign shot by Solve Sundsbo. The daughter of Jerry Hall poses as a glamorous muse, abandoning herself to the charms of this addictive scent among a cosmic Mugler galaxy.

"Angel Muse" Eau de Parfum is due out April 2016, priced from €64.40 or $70 for a refillable 30 ml (1 fl. oz) spray bottle.
