New collections from Alexander McQueen and Shaun Leane celebrate Savage Beauty exhibition

On March 14th, the Alexander McQueen-exhibition "Savage Beauty" opens at London's Victoria & Albert Museum. After its success in New York, expectations are high for the exhibition's London debut.

Shaun Leane

To coincide with the launch of Savage Beauty, jeweller Shaun Leane is launching a new limited-edition "Reflective Series" collection, consisting of five pieces. Leane was a close friend of McQueens, who he met whilst studying in London in the 1990's. They collaborated over 17 years, with Leane creating striking jewellery for the McQueen brand.

The new Reflective pieces each mirror a creation that Leane made for McQueen's catwalk shows. They include the one off ‘Star Pendant’ and ‘Moon Pendant’, which echo the headpieces from In Memory of Elizabeth Howe, Salem, 1692 (AW 2007/08) and the ‘Single Tusk Earring', which is reminiscent of the first piece the jeweller created for McQueen, for The Hunger (SS 96.)

Leane's Reflective Series will be sold throughout the duration of the exhibition, until August 2 in selected stores including the V&A shop, Selfridges and Harrods.

Naturally, the house of McQueen is also marking the opening of the show with a special collection.

McQueen

It is launching a limited-edition series of scarves that each feature a print of an iconic piece from one of McQueen's shows. The house is known for its scarves, with the Alexander McQueen skull scarf one of its most iconic and well-recognised pieces. The new scarves come in limited runs of 100 for each design, and will retail at £345.

The scarves will be available exclusively from the 14th of March at Alexander McQueen 4-5 Old Bond Street, London, and online.

£1 = $1.50
