Paris haute couture: sheer and ultra feminine at Zuhair Murad

In an uncluttered décor at the Palais de Tokyo, the Lebanese stylist unveiled his Spring-Summer 2015 haute couture collection. Delicate embroidery and shimmery details lit up the Parisian venue.

The sequins, rhinestones and beads adorning nearly every gown in the new collection left the audience breathless at Thursday's show. These sparkling details are sewn onto featherweight fabrics such as tulle and silk, which are often sheer. The result is both chic and sexy, meaning these looks are sure to wind up on the red carpet at the most prestigious Hollywood ceremonies.

Also contributing to the sexy and sensual quality are the necklines, which sometimes plunge to just above the navel. But although much of the chest is exposed, there is no hint of vulgarity, and the looks suggest more than they reveal. There are also extremely feminine details such as tulle ruffles at the shoulders and thin belts accentuating the waist.

Flowers, a recurring motif during this haute couture week, are once again in the spotlight here, whether in 3D appliqués or delicate embroidered motifs. Aside from a vast assortment of dresses -- from fitted tea-length dresses to voluminous princess-style gowns -- the line includes a few pants, capes, bodysuits and peplum tops.

White, ivory and pale grey dominated the color scheme, to say nothing of the colorless transparent materials. The fashion house also included hints of subdued pastels such as sky blue, pink and very pale yellow.

The wedding gowns were stunning as usual, particularly the pièce de résistance: a voluminous ivory gown with a plunging neckline and a gigantic train, all covered in shimmery floral embroidery.
