London’s Victoria & Albert Museum has announced that a new exhibition dedicated to fashion photographer Tim Walker will open next year as part of five major shows happening over the next 18 months.

Known for his fantasy-filled photography, where magical elements come to life and models' proportions are off, Tim Walker’s imagery has graced the pages of fashion magazines including Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar for many years.

The V&A said the exhibition, running from September 2019, will give a “backstage look at the creative process of one of the world's most inventive photographers through his photographs, films, photographic sets, and special installations.” There will be also a new series of photographs captured by Walker and inspired by the V&A archive.

He has worked with some of fashion’s most recognisable faces, including Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss, Vivienne Westwood, Alexander McQueen, Karlie Kloss and Lily Cole.

In 2008, he held his first major exhibition at the Design Museum in London, and was awarded the Isabella Blow award for Fashion Creator at the British Fashion Awards in the same year.

The V&S is also preparing to open a major Christian Dior exhibition in February 2019. Titled ‘Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams’, the show will trace the history and impact of the French couturier and his house’s relationship with Britain.

Also opening next year is an exhibition dedicated to Mary Quant, the British designer who helped to revolutionise 1960s style with her miniskirts and trousers for women.
