Via Outlets announces Europe expansion

Published
Nov 14, 2018

Via Outlets has announced the extension of a number of its properties in Sweden, Spain and Poland as part of its European remodelling programme.

Via Outlets is spending heavily to upgrade three of its outlet centres

The company is to spend €29 million on adding to the outlets as it continues the fast expansion seen since it was set up in 2014.

It has started work on the extension of its Hede Fashion Outlet in Gothenburg, Western Sweden and will add an additional 2,700 sq m to the centre, bringing the total to 19,000 sq m. That will increase the number of stores by 15, bringing the total to 75.

The announcement comes just months before the opening of a new railway station right next to the outlet, which will allow visitors to get from Gothenburg’s city centre in only 20 minutes. The total investment for this centre amounts to €11 million and the extension is set to open in October 2019.

The works at Sevilla Fashion Outlet in southern Spain have also just begun and will continue into next year with a spend of €13 million. It will see the addition of new leisure tenants and more space for visitor parking.

Meanwhile, the Wroclaw Fashion Outlet refurbishments will start next year and will include remodelling the façade and the interior of the centre with a total investment amounting to €5 million.

VIA Outlets is a joint venture between APG, UK malls giant Hammerson, Bicester Village owner Value Retail and Meyer Bergman. It currently owns a portfolio of 11 fashion outlets across Europe and saw over €1 billion in brand sales during 2017.
