Kirgan possesses over 20 years of experience in human resources roles, and most recently served as SVP, People at American Airlines. Prior to American Airlines, she worked for Darden Restaurants, where she served as Chief Human Resources Officer and was a member of the executive team responsible for transforming the business and its 150,000 team member workforce.

As Chief Human Resources Officer of Macy’s, Kirgan will be responsible for the full range of human resource functions, including strategy, associate relations, organizational development, including corporate, field and logistics, talent and performance management, compensation and benefits, and training and development.

Macy’s in September said it would hire 80,000 holiday workers, in which 18,000 will be tasked with fulfilling online orders, including shipping and packaging. Though the retailer will hire 3,000 more workers than last year to fulfill online orders, it will hire 3,000 less holiday workers than in the previous year.
